GLOBALSET Apr 09

GlobalSat Exercise - April 18, 2009 ( write-up provided by 9H1PI )

We rigged up @ 12 (local) @ Qalet Marku and for the very first time 9h1vw was 20 minutes late. This resulted in everyone on time unsure if we were in the correct location hihi.

9h1bw pitched up gazebo which proved very comfortable and 9h1aa served coffee and cakes

9h1vw rigged up 100W & vertical + automatic ATU which worked perfectly

Propagation was fantastic up to 15 minutes before Global SET worked Africa on 10M, Japan on 17M , 20M was full of DX J2, Oman, Kuwait , Senegal but as you guessed all went slowly down just after starting the exercise.

Furtu 9h1es brought over some vintage rigs and antennas but worked good QSOs on 40M and also managed to RF burn the Fireman .

Passing of messages with the new format was more demanding and required much longer QSOs and paperwork but the outcome was more "professional".
