As part of an International Museum Weekend, a Ham Radio Special Event Station is being
setup at the Auberge D'Italie, Merchants Street, in Valletta, the capital city of Malta, with a special call 9H9IMW.This station 9H9IMW will be operated from an exhibition hall entitled ‘Vintage
Wireless Military Museum’. The exhibits include thirty vintage communications transmitters and
receivers of the period 1938 – 1944, as well as post-war wireless equipment.
Amongst the exhibits there is the H2S
equipment (nowadays called Radar) which was invented in 1935 and was used by the British Royal Air Force (RAF) during WW I
I.
Furthermore this exhibition is being made possible
by Furtunato 9H1ES of Mosta. All radios on display are only a fraction from his vast personal collection of military radio
equipment.
